Interview: MK Ultra

1: How did you decide on the name, “MK Ultra”?

We are all being controlled by something. I nearly lost my life in a 12 car pile up…15 car pile up….maybe? Anyway, I was the first car hit by a huge bus and it fucking sucked. What was also fucked was many doctors on my medical team were supposed to heal me, not just pump me up with drugs.

I took so many rides to the hospital mostly because my treatment plan was intense. I wasn’t living in this world. I was overdosing nearly every day.

I finally woke up and decided not to listen to professional advice. I locked myself in a room and detoxed.

I felt psychologically fucked up by the situation and angry so I became MK Ultra through this experience. At that time, I officially gave no fucks.

If you look at Project MK Ultra which was conducted by the C.I.A you will see a lot of parallels with my story.

2: What inspires you to create?

Creating has always been something I needed to do to express myself in a  unfiltered place. Creating is my therapy. It’s how I work through my problems.

For example, a lot of my of songs are about how physical abuse effects me psychologically. I dealt with being hit consistently by my ex , Susana Taft (Alien Girl Ultra.) It’s a dark place to go but it’s how I purge the negative emotions the best I can.

It’s my safe zone to write about what I know. I’ve been beaten so many times by my ex , I know very well how that feels mentally and physically.

One another occasion, she took the wheel of my car and we hit a telephone pole full speed? I gotta purge my demons through art for my own mental health’s sake.

3: What advice would you give to someone who wants to be in a creative profession?

I wouldn’t do it for the money. Expect nothing and just create. It will take you somewhere positive with success or no success.

I would try to keep your ego in check if you do attain success though. Even the littlest taste of fame can be very confusing. In 2017 when I released The Hollywood Holocaust EP my life changed in great and bad ways.

4: Do you feel open minded when it comes to what you listen to? Do you like going out of your comfort zone.

I will listen to any genre and I listen to rock music the least. I think commercial modern rock feels fake, especially now. I like my Charli XCX, Lady GaGa and Lana Del Rey. I think Nine Inch Nails did the best of meshing a bunch of different styles. Pushing things forward through music is what I’m into and trying to do.

5: What outlets do you find out about music from? (Record stores, magazines, samplers, etc.)

The best is when someone brings me music. For example, Slizza brought Blackpink to me. Discovering new music out of my own genre makes me a more versatile artist and helps me produce more genres of music effectively.

6: What are your plans for 2021?

Has Covid left yet?

Hopefully, another European Tour. I think it’s unfortunately going to take a while for everyone to get back on their feet though. Covid has hurt entertainers so much because most artists make money from live shows. I’m doing some more live virtual performances on podcasts and producing two new albums along with producing other artists. So I’m keeping busy.

7: What was the inspiration for your song, “Self Destruct”?

That song is about how we as people murder each other over selfish reasons. The world doesn’t need to be like this. Wars are all started by selfish motives. If we don’t change soon with how we conduct our relationships personally or in a macroscopically level, humanity itself will Self Destruct.
