Retronaut Selects: Loz Netto - Loz Netto (1986)
image

I first found out about Loz Netto from hearing him with Sniff ‘n’ the Tears.

I remember seeing this album at one of the record stores I shop at, but I never realized who it was until my last visit.

I was flipping through the records like I always do, and I noticed the Loz Netto album and I couldn’t believe that I never realized who it was.

I was so excited when I saw it because I never knew that he released a solo album.

My copy was sealed, and I opened it when I got home. I listened to it and it’s fantastic! It’s such an interesting album. The audio quality is excellent.

If you see a copy of this, don’t put it down.

Essential Tracks: Walking In The Dark, No Reaction, Silent Movie

Listen Here: “We Touch”

Retronaut Selects: Charlie Puth - Voicenotes (2018)

The first Charlie Puth song I ever seriously listened to was “How Long” after I saw him perform it one night on The Late Late Show With James Corden, and I loved everything about it.

I followed each single until this album came out.

I remember the first time I listened to “Voicenotes” in full and it was during one of my final exams for one of my semesters of college.

This album is excellent, and it stands out in comparison to most pop albums released today.

It has this “difference” in the fact that it isn’t mindless pop music, and it’s more musical.

It’s music you’d actually want to sit down and listen to.

Essential Tracks: How Long, BOY, Somebody Told Me

Listen here: Voicenotes

Retronaut Selects: John Parr - John Parr (1984)
image

Most of you know John Parr for his iconic tune, “St. Elmo’s Fire (Man In Motion).

He released two solo albums, both of which are massively overlooked.

I found out about his first solo album through Spotify, and I only did a run through of it. This was my version of a quick listen to an album where I would just skip around.

I grew out of that because you don’t always get the full picture by just skipping around.

One day, I saw it on vinyl and I got it. Completely on a whim.

It’s a really cool album!

It gives me vibes of 1980s era Robert Palmer and it has the sounds of 1980s pop/rock too.

I always prefer these albums to the really electronic ones, because it’s cooler to hear real instruments and it doesn’t sound so digital.

This album will totally be up your alley if you’re into cool soundning stuff.

I guess you could say it’s magical. (The bad puns are now a running gag.)

Essential Tracks: Magical, Treat Me Like An Animal, Heartbreaker
