I first found out about Phil Seymour from hearing his song, “Precious To Me” on my friend Chris’ radio show, A.M. Transistor!
I remember hearing it and always thinking that it was a cool song and I came across an original pressing of the album that song came from when I went record shopping, and I grabbed it because I knew it wasn’t going to come around again…and it hasn’t.
It’s an excellent album, and one of the many underrated classics of the 1980s. There’s something that’s so cool about power pop and new wave music, that no other genre is able to capture. New wave and power pop were the sounds that were created by being different.
These artists didn’t fall into the categories of rock or easy listening, they were a whole new breed and I continue to find more and more amazing acts from this time period and it blows my mind that there are still so many to discover.
Give this fantastic album a listen, and you’ll see why Phil Seymour is legendary.
