Retronaut Jukebox: Kurt Baker Combo

If you thought I ran out of cool tunes to recommend…you’re sadly mistaken. Retronaut Jukebox is back for it’s fifth month! We have our first selection of songs to share in the new decade!

This month we feature Phil Seymour, Weathers, Billy Squier, CRX, Vain, Sass Jordan and more!!

For our latest feature, we feature the marvelous Kurt Baker Combo, so read along to learn more about them and hear their tune, “(I Can’t Help) Failing In Love”.

I’ve known about Kurt Baker for a long time. The first time I ever heard his work, was from a blog on Tumblr called Power Poptopia, where they featured a tune from his album “Brand New Beat”.

I always found his work interesting and I finally got around to giving his work a proper listen last year, and it was totally worth the wait.

Kurt, in his solo work, and his work with the Kurt Baker Combo is fantastic. I feel this way because it takes a bygone element of music and modernizes it at the same time.

This is more than power pop, it’s a person who truly appreciates those great bands and takes it one step further to make truly amazing music in a bygone genre that has had so many greats.

I’m here to promote Kurt’s latest work, which is great stuff and I love the artwork to them!! I always appreciate those artists who give their art that vintage look and really embrace old fashioned album art design!!

If we have any takeaway here, like whatever you like. If you’re inspired to create from it, take that inspiration and take it to the next level!!

Happy New Year!! Hope you all enjoy the playlist!!
