I originally found out about Strapps from Ongaku Senka, one of the older Japanese music publications.
This is a funny story because I recall seeing a number of their pictures of them and it sent me over the edge.
My exact thought process was “If they’ve been featured this many times, they better be the best band I’ve ever heard.”
I looked around and I found their songs. They are spectacular.
I remember when I found Secret Damage on vinyl and it was absolutely insane. I was in hysterics for a solid ten minutes!! I’d never seen it on vinyl before and it was so crazy to finally see it for real.
I’d only ever heard this album from low quality MP3 files so I became really used to it, but it somehow enhanced the atmosphere and my interest in that album.
It really made me listen past the surrounding noise to really focus on the album.
The first time I ever heard it on vinyl was amazing. The sound quality on the vinyl edition is bombastic. It was so different from the way that I had always heard it, so it was crazy to hear the audio in such a high quality.
Secret Damage is just one of the many underrated, hard rock gems from the 1970s.
Don’t hesitate to check this out because it’s awesome stuff and that’s no secret.
